{"id":846,"date":"2014-01-04T23:11:23","date_gmt":"2014-01-04T23:11:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/yesflyers.org.uk\/?page_id=846"},"modified":"2021-03-11T10:47:07","modified_gmt":"2021-03-11T10:47:07","slug":"projects","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/yesflyers.org.uk\/home\/projects\/","title":{"rendered":"Projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>This YES \u201cProjects\u201d section covers many aspects of items where young people are involved.\u00a0 \u00a0Originally, all the \u201cBuild-a-Plane\u201d projects were under the title of &#8220;The UK Youth Build A Plane Project&#8221; and some are listed here. \u00a0As new funders came forward these people wanted to name their own projects rather than have them under the YES scheme.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Various Societies saw what was happening and got involved and brought in Sponsors such as Boeing. \u00a0We are proud that this happened.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Currently, apart from the first \u201cflagship\u201d plane that Stewart Luck sponsored for YES we are only advisors, facilitators and mentors to other projects some of which will be referred to below.\u00a0 <span style=\"font-size: inherit;\">For a summary of all known UK Youth Build-a-Plane projects as of August 2019 click <\/span><a style=\"font-size: inherit;\" href=\"https:\/\/yesflyers.org.uk\/build-a-plane-projects-map\/\">here<\/a><span style=\"font-size: inherit;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<h5><\/h5>\n<h5>UK YOUTH BUILD-A-PLANE PROJECT<\/h5>\n<p>An Engineering Project that showing that young people can achieve high ambitions.\u00a0\u00a0This involved young people from all over the UK in building a RANS S6-ES kit aircraft, and was begun during 2003 under the leadership of Captain Stewart Luck, to mark the Centenary of Powered Flight. It helped celebrate Brooklands\u2019 Centenary year and is funded through the museum <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brooklandsmuseum.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.brooklandsmuseum.com<\/a>.\u00a0 You can read more <a href=\"https:\/\/yesflyers.org.uk\/build-a-plane-2\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>G-BTSC, an Evans VP-2 called \u201cThe Spirit of Truro\u201d<\/h5>\n<p>This is the project that kicked it all off.\u00a0 The &#8220;Grand-Daddy&#8221; of all Youth Build-a-Plane projects.\u00a0 Built under the guidance of Design and Technology teacher Dennis Keam at Truro School, \u00a0Cornwall from the summer of 1978 to 1979.\u00a0 You can read more <a href=\"https:\/\/yesflyers.org.uk\/the-grand-daddy-of-all-youth-build-a-plane-projects\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h5><b>G-TSOB, a <\/b><b>Rans<\/b> <b>S6 called <\/b><b>\u201c<\/b><u><b>T<\/b><\/u><b>he<\/b> <u><b>S<\/b><\/u><b>pirit<\/b> <u><b>O<\/b><\/u><b>f<\/b> Brooklands<b>\u201d\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/h5>\n<p>This project involved young people from all over the UK in building a RANS S6-ES\u00a0kit aircraft, and\u00a0was\u00a0begun during\u00a02003\u00a0under the leadership of\u00a0Captain Stewart Luck, to mark the Centenary of Powered Flight.\u00a0 It helped celebrate\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/flyers.org.uk\/Events\/Airshows\/Brooklands\/Brooklands100.htm\">Brooklands\u2019 Centenary<\/a>\u00a0year and is funded through the museum\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.brooklandsmuseum.com\/\">www.brooklandsmuseum.com<\/a> .\u00a0 You can read more <a href=\"https:\/\/yesflyers.org.uk\/the-spirit-of-brooklands\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h5><b>G-TSOT, a <\/b><b>Rans<\/b> <b>S6 Coyote called\u00a0<\/b><b>\u201c<\/b><u><b>T<\/b><\/u><b>he<\/b> <u><b>S<\/b><\/u><b>pirit<\/b> <u><b>O<\/b><\/u><b>f<\/b> <u><b>T<\/b><\/u><b>ilbury\u201d\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><em>*registration subject to availability.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A project managed by Ian Mead, with support from the YES team led by Ian Richmond and Les Tomlinson.\u00a0 You can read more <a href=\"https:\/\/yesflyers.org.uk\/yes-build-a-plane-5\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h5>RAES Schools Build-a-Plane<\/h5>\n<p>The Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) and its sponsors Boeing UK, with the assistance of the Light Aircraft Association (LAA), launched an ambitious, innovative and exciting project, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aerosociety.com\/careers-education\/schools-outreach\/schools-build-a-plane\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.aerosociety.com\/careers-education\/schools-outreach\/schools-build-a-plane\/\">Schools Build-a-Plane Challenge<\/a> (SBAP-Challenge) in 2008.
