This YES \u201cProjects\u201d section covers many aspects of items where young people are involved.\u00a0 \u00a0Originally, all the \u201cBuild-a-Plane\u201d projects were under the title of “The UK Youth Build A Plane Project” and some are listed here. \u00a0As new funders came forward these people wanted to name their own projects rather than have them under the YES scheme.<\/div>\n

Various Societies saw what was happening and got involved and brought in Sponsors such as Boeing. \u00a0We are proud that this happened.<\/div>\n

UK YOUTH BUILD-A-PLANE PROJECT<\/h5>\n

An Engineering Project that showing that young people can achieve high ambitions.\u00a0\u00a0This involved young people from all over the UK in building a RANS S6-ES kit aircraft, and was begun during 2003 under the leadership of Captain Stewart Luck, to mark the Centenary of Powered Flight. It helped celebrate Brooklands\u2019 Centenary year and is funded through the museum www.brooklandsmuseum.com<\/a>.\u00a0 You can read more here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

G-BTSC, an Evans VP-2 called \u201cThe Spirit of Truro\u201d<\/h5>\n

This is the project that kicked it all off.\u00a0 The “Grand-Daddy” of all Youth Build-a-Plane projects.\u00a0 Built under the guidance of Design and Technology teacher Dennis Keam at Truro School, \u00a0Cornwall from the summer of 1978 to 1979.\u00a0 You can read more here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

G-TSOB, a <\/b>Rans<\/b> S6 called <\/b>\u201c<\/b>T<\/b><\/u>he<\/b> S<\/b><\/u>pirit<\/b> O<\/b><\/u>f<\/b> Brooklands\u201d\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/h5>\n

RAES Schools Build-a-Plane<\/h5>\n

The Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) and its sponsors Boeing UK, with the assistance of the Light Aircraft Association (LAA), launched an ambitious, innovative and exciting project, the Schools Build-a-Plane Challenge<\/a> (SBAP-Challenge) in 2008. The SBAP-Challenge engages school pupils by providing young people in secondary schools the opportunity to gain hands \u2013 on experience of the aircraft build process and wider STEM subjects to encourage them to pursue a career in the industry.<\/p>\n

STEM High Fliers<\/h5>\n

Registered Charity No. 1178285<\/p>\n

A<\/strong> newly registered charity, whose prime objective is to inspire young people towards Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths (STEM), by having them build a light aircraft and then fly in it.\u00a0 You can read more here.<\/a><\/p>\n
