The Royal Air Force Museum, Cosford
Calling all teachers….join in the Key Stage 3 Glider Challenge! Compete against other schools in designing, building and flying a glider! We are hosting two events, one onsite on Wednesday 10 November 2021 and a virtual challenge online to be streamed on Thursday 18 November for those who cannot visit us.
The RAF Museum are proud to host the KS3 Glider Challenge 2021 as an onsite and virtual event. Sponsored by the Royal Air Force Youth Engagement Team, we are inviting schools to enter teams into either event.
All schools involved are sent a 4-week lesson plan to be covered in lessons prior to the event. This lesson plan can be adapted in any which way to suit your school needs. Entrants will also receive a FREE resource pack which includes the materials needed to get you started.
The competition will include a research and design element, as well as a poster and presentation pitch which outlines why the team has chosen their glider design and why they think it should win. Prizes will be awarded across both events for the winners of each category. Students that successfully complete all elements of the challenge will also receive a British Science Association CREST Discovery Award!
In light of government guidance, if the onsite event cannot go ahead, we will assume teams would like to enter the virtual challenge instead.
